The SoCo Calendar

Main content start

You'll have 11 weeks in June, July, and August to spend on relaxation, jobs, internships, or whatever you please, before coming to campus for SoCo. However, many classes will have you do some summer reading and short assignments before arriving.

Once you arrive for Sophomore College on Monday 4 September (Labor Day), most classes meet every weekday. Don't plan any travel—many classes will hold field trips or movie nights on weekends and evenings, plus organize social events. SoCo hosts some program-wide events so you can catch up with friends in other classes. Check out our Photo Gallery and Instagram feed (#socoStanford) to get a glimpse into some of the classes.

SoCo Special Events

In addition to your class syllabus, you should expect....

Move-In

SoCo Check in is on Monday 4 September (Labor Day), 12noon-4pm, location TBD. Learn more about living and eating on campus

SoCo Welcome/House Meeting

After dinner on Move-In Day, we'll gather as a program to meet the SoCo team and go over some basics.

Hall Meeting

After the SoCo Welcome on Move-In Day, your SCAs will gather the class for the first community meeting, getting to know your classmates.

Class Opening Dinner

The evening of the first class, you'll have dinner with your faculty to begin getting to know them outside of the classroom. Some faculty select a restaurant in Palo Alto, others opt for an on-campus picnic.

Faculty Panel: When I Was a Sophomore...

SoCo faculty share what it was like for them to be 19 and trying to navigate college and life decisions. Due to COVID, we may ask each class to do this individually rather than organize a large indoor event.

SoCo Picnic

All 200 students gather for dinner, lawn games, and arts and crafts.

Get Your Move On

Move into Fall Housing early, yay! You can start settling in for your sophomore year. But remember to pack light--you have to tote your stuff across campus. Learn more about moving

SoCo Dessert Social

A chance to bring everyone back together after moving out of program housing.

Symposium

Each class organizes a table to show off what they've been doing through SoCo.

After Sophomore College

SoCo funds a reunion each year until you graduate. Many students remain friends, and faculty often become advisors and mentors.
